When renovating, or retrofitting, an existing structure, obtaining accurate as-built information is a critical step of the process. Taking hand measurements, scaling photographs, researching original plans, and creating elevations has been the standard process for gathering as-built information. This can be a laborious, time-consuming, and expensive method which could open your project up to human error. A mistake in the early process can spiral into an array of unforseen set backs on the job site, costing your client time and money. Fortunately, this can be a process of the past. By offering 3D laser scanning, we can produce a CAD file with ACCURATE (up to 4mm) elevations for you to plug into your workflow, allowing design to begin immediately. Laser scanning provides detailed interior and exterior elevations, including artistic and ornamental facades. On your next project, save yourself and your client the headache of set backs and enjoy the peace of mind you receive from laser scanning.
A 3D As-Built is the most effective way of anchoring BIM projects to real world data. Having a complete 3D surface model gives an accurate and easy to understand depicition of the real world project. The 3D As-Built can also serve as a record of conditions upon completion of a project . This data can be compared to the As-Planned data to verify grades and placement of improvments. The Texas soil is in constant movement and once completed the 3d As-Built can serve as contol to monitor ground movement on the site. When movement is seen on the site, the information provided from revisit scans can help locate and determine the cause of the movement.
Determining and monitoring structural deformations can be a daunting task. With the ability to be accurate up to 4mm, a laser scanner makes this task as easy as taking a picture. Deformations that are impossible to spot with the human eye can be quickly identified and monitored in a cost effective manner, making laser scanning an ideal choice for water treatment facilities, water towers, cooling tanks, dams, retaining walls, and just about any structure that needs monitoring.
It is always a challenge to acquire data in hazardous work zones or inaccessible areas. Heavily traveled intersections , high speed freeways, railroads, and high-voltage zones no longer need to be shut down to gather information. A laser scanner can be set up at a safe vantage point, eliminating the need to enter hazardous or restricted areas. In addition to standard information such as elevations and distances, the incredible detail observed by a laser scanner can help determine the exterior condition of any objects being scanned. Because the laser scanner is accurate up to 4mm at over 450 ft, scans can reveal stress cracks and failing supports on bridges and overpasses, as well as provide clearance measurements for overpasses, signs, and utilities. Cross sections at any interval are easily created. There is flexibility in the type of CAD file, so that we deliver your desired format to easily drop into existing workflows. It is easy to see why TXDOT is dependent on laser scanning; now YOU can have the same capabilities.
Acquiring accurate as-built information and documenting inventory at electrical sites is a dangerous, and expensive, process. Precautionary measures cost time and money, but only reduce the risk of injury or death. 3D laser scanning from an unobtrusive, secure vantage point eliminates the risk. Laser scanning does not require physical contact with an object, so there is no need to interrupt the daily workflow of the facility. Laser scanning is the safest, quickest, and most cost effective means to gather data in an electrical site.
At Surdukan Surveying, INC. we have the ability to produce unrendered models for our clients. Although we do have the capabilities to render our models, many times architecual firms will render our premade models in their labs with more robust renedring software. We provide models in AUTOCAD and SketchUp.
